About me
Mike and me
At Leeds Town Hall for the Victor Victoria FireBallBorn in 1963 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, I studied sciences at school with the bizarre idea of becoming a parapsychologist. I studied psychology at Sheffield University for, erm, two years and then dossed about for a couple of years, having decided that my glittering future lay in graphic design, and moved to Leeds.
I worked as a graphic designer for three and a half years before deciding that my still-glittering future lay in teaching, so I got a BEd at Leeds Metropolitan University before doing a year's teaching - which convinced me that my not-quite-so-glittering-anymore future certainly didn't lay in teaching.
So, together with my boyfriend, Mike, I started up Shout!, a gay paper for Yorkshire, which has been going steadily since 1995. I've also written a few other bits for the press, but nothing particularly exciting.
Currently, I'm doing my best to be a writer. Click here for details.
I'm an experienced trainer in using the gay press to help small and community-based gay organisations to generate as much publicity as possible, having run training sessions in London, Leeds, Birmingham, Bradford and Newcastle.
Who knows what the future might bring - apart from some more glitter, obviously.
